Lake Mead's Red Rock Country
I took advantage of my free day Monday to cruise the Lake Mead area and shoot some video. This short piece show some of the landscape along Lake Mead's Northshore Road. The oasis-like red rock sandstone formations that litter this area are pretty amazing. En route to this spot are areas of desert that would make you wonder if you were on Mars, with charcoal black rocks strewn about fields of bright orange-red sand. In fact it was those Mars rocks that jarred me into remembering I had a new video camera with me and, gee, perhaps I should try using it.
Don't take the video full screen if you get motion sickness as the shakiness of it all rivals the Blair Witch Project at that size. This is as much as test of my new iPhone's video recording and editing capabilities as it is a show-and-tell. Just like other consumer HD video cameras it suffers from the shakes if not properly mounted. So, next step...get a mount for this thing!
